One of the most compelling advantages of CorticoBasal® and other immediate-loading dental implants is the rapid return to function – especially eating. Unlike traditional implant systems that require months of healing, the CorticoBasal® dental implant procedure allows patients to resume normal oral function almost immediately after the surgery. However, even with its several advantages, patients must follow the dietary guidelines provided by the dental surgeon.
After receiving Full-Mouth Dental Implants using the immediate-loading protocol, patients are typically able to eat soft foods within 24 to 48 hours. Since the implants are anchored into the cortical bone – a dense, stable layer of jawbone – there is no need to wait months for osseointegration before using them. That said, it’s important to approach the early post-treatment period with caution.
What Can You Eat?
A well-cooked, soft diet is encouraged for the first 10 to 15 days. Patients can enjoy foods like steamed vegetables, khichdi, pasta, bananas, boiled eggs, soft paneer, dalia, and curd rice. These foods require minimal chewing effort and are gentle on newly placed prosthetic teeth. Hydration is equally important – lukewarm soups and fresh juices (without pulp or seeds) are excellent options.
What Should You Avoid?
In the early phase, one should completely avoid hard or crunchy items like nuts, raw carrots, fried snacks, and hard bread crusts. Chewing gum and sticky sweets are also discouraged as they can dislodge the prosthesis or strain the implants during the initial adaptation phase. Hot and spicy foods should be minimized to prevent inflammation of the surgical site.
Once the soft tissue adjusts and the patient becomes comfortable with the new bite alignment, the diet can be gradually expanded under professional guidance.
